The work of Aleksandra Waliszewska echoes an early Renaissance, especially Piero della Francesca but also De Chirico and Balthus. Referring to the accomplishments of the old masters the artist achieves individual resolutions. She focuses on a human form: she paints self-portraits, nudes and more advanced multi-figure compositions. A subject is just an excuse for a search for the right proportions or colour combinations as according to Waliszewska a painting must comply with the artistic assumption, which states that in painting, harmony is most important.
