Jacek Cyganek’s painting is a ciphered story about everyday life, a kind of intimate diary on canvas, where pathos where it blends with comedy.
As far as his style is concerned, the artist draws inspiration from the traditional works by icon painters, the history of European avant-garde – from French Cubism and Russian Suprematism to the traditions of the Łódź Arts Academy and the legacy of Władysław Strzemiński. He complements these serious models with the lightness and humour of the Polish Schools of Posters, the masters of book illustration from the 1950’s and 60’s.
