• Magdalena Sawicka

  Born in 1990 in Lublin. Graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków. Diploma supervised by Professor Dariusz Vasina in 2014.

• She mainly focuses on drawing, illustration as well as painting and graphics. Her drawings and paintings combine delicacy and sensuality. The intimate nature of her works is emphasised by their relatively small formats and the careful selection of papers. Sawicka uses old notebooks, drawing pads and even library request slips found in second-hand bookshops and basements in friends’ houses. The artist rarely uses colour and yet, due to various shades/hues of paper, stains and damage done by time, her works are curiously nuanced colouristically.
