Wiktor Gorazdowski
Born in 1979 in Warsaw. "I think my education can be briefly summed up as follows: abandoned profession – engineer and combustion engine constructor, learned profession – economist, practised profession – painter, illustrator and draughtsman, target profession – saint."

These words by the artist Wiktor Gorazdowski would suffice as an intriguing introduction to his work and personality. After his studies at the Faculty of Automotive and Construction Machinery Engineering of the Warsaw University of Technology, he turned towards art – the immediate impulse was seeing the exhibition of native artist Tadeusz Głowala in 2010.
Wiktor Gorazdowski’s colourful drawings are a fascinating combination of form and content.
The artist uses his own rules of perspective and his own rules of painting construction. He draws everything out meticulously, with the precision of an engineer. In the outline, he fills the shapes with colour, using cheap markers. His technical training can also be seen in the ever-recurring cross-sections, in the complicated machines and machineries.
He likes to tell stories; his works are incredibly narrative and often have a second or third meaning. The artist is a witty narrator; even in difficult or painful scenes, he is able to insert a flash of humour, to unmask taboo subjects. Reality as he presents it becomes surreal – or perhaps it simply already is.
