Late symptoms of death

Divagations on art and death. The ART Gallery cordially invites you to the exhibition of paintings by Łukasz Huculak, entitled ‘Late Symptoms of Death’ – an artistic accent during Holy Week. For a long time, Huculak believed that the gravity of a skull – this crown of still life – is inevitably suffused with the grotesque. For years he would treat painting skulls as a painter’s training, almost meditational, until the motif grew in strength and the painting reached the appropriate state of matter. The existential burden and the chill of constructivism merged into a painting.

Having a talk over a carp. Just for fun.
Or: Still life with carp

Isn’t carp supposed to be grey?

It’s a special Christmas carp and a New Year’s goldfish. Two in one.

Have you ever seen one like that?

Carp tend to stay away from me.

But you’ve just painted a still life with a carp. Although the carp looks more active than still really.

It’s my first carp and it’s on the plate. And carp generally look much better in the water, swimming.

And as for the one on the plate, it would be…

It’s not carp that I like most but fish soup actually. And I do not associate the best fish soup with Christmas Eve, but with my trips to Hungary where they cook the best Halászlé. And this year for Christmas Eve I am hoping for some shrimps.
