An idea hidden in things

Buildings, edifices, objects. Anchored in our memory, in our thinking about cities, outskirts, in images of different journeys, in perception of a rural road, a sea shore, a terrace, a backyard. The roughness of concrete, the smell of timber, the vermillion of brick, the colour of neon. A house, a palace, a factory, a station. An arbour in the park, a gateway, a swimming pool, a springboard, a gasoline station. Light falling onto the floor, walls, the asphalt of the road. Encoded views, landscapes complemented with architecture.

"It was a real youthful delight”

The presented catalogue of drawings entitled „Dwurnik. Od początku” (“Dwurnik. From the beginning”) constitutes a result of the exhibition which was prepared for the Sołtysiński Kawecki & Szlęzak law firm in autumn 2016.

The lawyers celebrated 25th anniversary of the company and we honored Edward Dwurnik with another exhibition. There is never too much of such celebrations. After cities and abstractions, there was time to go back to the beginnings of his work. We selected mainly early drawings from the 60s and added some from the 70s and the 80s to add some variety. Each decade brings something different – collage, marker, topics.
You may go crazy while watching those drawings! The preciseness and detail takes your breath away! Masterful skill, sharp observation sense, fun. It makes you want to say “Amazing!” It makes you wonder how he did that.
Such enquiries are summed up by Edward Dwurnik’s response “True, those are genius works! It was a real youthful delight.”
